Birmingham

LONDON — There was a time when bouncers would just take a look at you to see if you were allowed into their club. Standing just about upright? You're good to go in. Stumbling headfirst into a wall or shouting gibberish at inanimate objects? You've had one too many my friend. Taxi time.


The rules were pretty clear: hold it together until you get inside at least.



Now, though, more than 40 pubs and clubs in Birmingham are planning to breathalyse punters on the way in to the venue. Anyone registering a reading of more than double the legal drink drive limit - which is 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath - will be turned away. Read more...
