LONDON — British jihadist Imran Khawaja has been jailed for 12 years.
The 27-year-old, who faked his own death to return to the UK after fighting in Syria, pleaded guilty to four terror offences. He was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court Friday.
Khawaja travelled to Syria in January 2014, and started calling himself Abu Daigham al-Britani. He was also nicknamed Barbie. He joined a group called Rayat al Tawheed, which means Flag of Unity and is affiliated with Islamic State (ISIS).
During his time in Syria he posed for a series of pictures holding weapons and was featured in a video brandishing two severed heads as part of a propaganda drive. Read more...
