The Chinese budget carrier Spring Airlines wants to introduce standing seats on planes.


The Shanghai-based airline would offer the standing seats at cheaper prices, ostensibly making air travel more affordable for those willing to sacrifice even more comfort. They resemble the seats you "stand at" on a rollercoaster — a bit like a bar stool — since you're more upright than sitting down. But you're not standing like would on the subway



The airline's chairman, Wang Zhenghua, said he is seeking government approval for standing-only airplane cabins, according to China National Radio. Read more...
