Leading human rights watchers have condemned the execution of al Qaeda-linked prisoners in Jordan on Wednesday, which followed the Islamic State's gruesome killing of the country's pilot, Lt. Mu'ath al-Kaseasbeh.
Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziad al-Karbouli, who were imprisoned in Jordan for their links to al Qaeda, were summarily executed before dawn on Wednesday as revenge for the murder of the Jordanian pilot, who was burned to death in a cage.
An official told the Associated Press that they were hanged.
The executions, which came hours after a video of the pilot's death surfaced on social media, were immediately condemned by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. Read more...
