Snow

A train carrying more than 100 tankers of crude oil derailed during a snowstorm in southern West Virginia on Monday.


At least one tanker landed in a river, igniting at least 14 in all and sending a fireball hundreds of feet into the sky, officials and residents said. One section of the derailed train also slammed into a house.


A state of emergency has been declared in Kanawha and Fayette counties, as more than 2,400 people have been displaced from their homes. The fire continued to burn nearly nine hours after the accident, according to state public safety division spokesman Lawrence Messina
