We have just witnessed a turning point for Hannah


In what was Girls' strongest episode so far this season — beautifully directed by Richard Shepard, who also helmed the poignant “One Man’s Trash” from Season 2 — our protagonist hits rock bottom. "Sit-in" marks the first time that Hannah's tendency toward self-pity feels warranted and not like it's the product of First World problems



This is because she is blindsided by the sudden presence of Mimi-Rose Howard, a seemingly accomplished multimedia artist (played by Community star Gillian Jacobs), who Adam is now dating less than a month after Hannah moved to Iowa. While the longtime couple's relationship status was ambiguous when Hannah left New York City, they never formally broke up. The betrayal is familiar territory for Adam, who abandoned ex-girlfriend Natalia for Hannah — without any forewarning — in Season 2. What's more, Adam's inability to say goodbye to Hannah in Season 4's premiere episode shows that he is constantly struggling to express his emotions. Read more...
