Abbottjulie

A secret vote, which began at 9 a.m. on Monday, is being held at the Australian parliament in Canberra to decide the future of the country's leadership.


The vote will decide whether a spill motion will be upheld by the Liberal Party — if this is the case, the Prime Minister's position along with the Deputy's position will be declared vacant. One hundred and one Liberal Party members will vote on the motion, deciding the fate of Australia's current Prime Minister Tony Abbott.



If the position is declared vacant by gaining a majority of the vote backing the spill motion, any member of the party can be elected into the positions of Prime Minister and Deputy in a second secret ballot in the party room. Read more...
