It seems bidding $129,000 for a game console may have been hard to swallow for the winner.


Last month, Sony auctioned the first model of its limited-edition, 20th anniversary PlayStation 4 console to raise money for charity. The console's grey color scheme was meant to match the original PlayStation, which came out in Japan on Dec. 3, 1994



Sony produced just 12,300 of the limited consoles, a figure meant to commemorate the date, and sold them for $499 (or the local equivalent.) For the auction, which was for unit 00001/12300, the winner outbid 1,585 other people for a total bid of ¥15.135 million — about $129,000. Read more...
