Southern New England is in the midst of a snow blitz for the ages, as the fifth in a series of storms affects the area through early Tuesday morning. Depending on the totals from this storm, it's possible that the city of Boston will have seen six or more feet of snow in just two weeks — an unprecedented occurrence for a city that typically sees about half that amount in an entire winter


And for snow weary Bostonians, the news just keeps getting worse, as computer models suggest that another storm may take aim at the region on Thursday, followed by two separate volleys of bitterly cold Arctic air that may rival or eclipse the most intense cold waves in recent years. If current projections prove correct, the low temperature in Boston on Friday morning may be well below zero Fahrenheit, with a high in the single digits, and this may be repeated a few days later.
